RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:      
·      Approval of the Resolution.
 
ITEM SUMMARY:  
·      This Resolution authorizes a professional services contract to provide conceptual architectural services related to the design of the future fire station to be located on city owned land north of Virginia Parkway and west of Hardin Boulevard.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  
·      A proposal for the design of this project has been received from Architects Phelps / Wood in the amount of $30,000 for conceptual design services.
·      The project is intended to utilize similar floor plans to Fire Station 7 with required site modifications, and conceptual design services are required to appropriately verify this site for the intended use.
·      Architects Phelps / Wood provided complete architectural design services on Fire Station 5, Fire Station 6, Fire Station 7 and Fire Station 8.
·      This project provides for the following Core Businesses of the City:
o      Protect People & Property, Making A Safe Community
o      Respond to Emergency Situations.
 
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:  
·      A separate agenda item is providing funding for this professional services contract in the Capital Improvements Program in FY 2013/2014 in FI4246.
·      The Resolution authorizes a professional services contract for Architect Phelps / Wood for an amount not to exceed $30,000.
