ITEM SUMMARY:
· This ordinance will modify the time period of the reduced speed school zone along Jordan Road for the Imagine Charter School.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· When the Imagine Charter School opened in August of 2012, they had two drop-off and pick-up times; one for the lower grades, K-5 and one for the upper grades 6-9.
· In January, based on input from the parents of the students attending the school, Imagine Charter School consolidated the two drop-off / pick-up periods into a single time period and lengthened the time period when students can be dropped off in the morning.
· This ordinance adjusts the time periods for the reduced speed school zone to cover the single drop-off and pick-up times established by Imagine Charter School
· The effective times for the school zones are established as follows:
o The morning school zone will begin 45 minutes before the beginning of school and end 15 minutes after the arrival time. The school zone will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
o The afternoon school zone will begin 15 minutes before dismissal of school and will end 45 minutes after the dismissal time. The school zone will be in effect from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· Installation of the signage associated with this item is available in the Public Works operating budget.
