RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a Local Project Advance Funding Agreement (LPAFA) with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the City to furnish required traffic signal equipment along US 380 from Lake Forest Drive to Custer Road (FM 2478) as necessary for the reconstruction of US 380, for an amount not to exceed $ 27,500.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· During the reconstruction of US 380 modifications to the existing traffic signals will be required to meet the new roadway configuration.
· The City of McKinney maintains the traffic signals; however, TxDOT has the financial responsibility for the modification of the traffic signals necessary for the US 380 construction project.
· TxDOT policies do not allow them to require their contractor to use the signal equipment that matches the City of McKinney signal system but TxDOT will allow the City to furnish the signal equipment for their contractor to install.
· Therefore, the City will furnish the traffic signal cabinet, controller, video detection and other miscellaneous equipment as part of this agreement with the understanding that TxDOT will reimburse the City for the cost.
· The US 380 reconstruction project from Lake Forest Drive to Custer Road is scheduled to be let in July 2011 and be completed in 2014.
· The reimbursement will be paid upon completion of the US 380 project.
