ITEM SUMMARY:
* The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting funds in the amount of $1,000,000 for construction of various improvements at Gabe Nesbitt Park which include:
o Practice space for sports teams which includes irrigation and new sod
o Two monument signs at Alma and Eldorado entrances

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Gabe Nesbitt Park is part of the 10-year CIP and this project will provide much needed amenities and renovations to one of our busiest athletic complexes.
* The Parks Master Plan, approved in 2017 and updated in 2022, identifies areas of deficit, provides a vision for addressing growth and provides a plan for immediate and long-term park, park facilities and trail improvement needs.
* The Parks Master Plan was utilized in identifying projects for this FY 24-25 grant application.
* The project promotes park developments that will enhance the quality of life for McKinney residents.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* If approved by the Board, this item will be funded from MCDC's Community Grants budget.
* The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code.
