RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution

ITEM SUMMARY:
* Approval of purchasing the attached list of budgeted items utilizing cooperative purchasing contracts.
* The Interlocal Cooperation Act, Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code, authorizes local governments to contract directly with other governments to increase their efficiency and effectiveness. Texas Government Code, Section 791.025(c) states that a local government that purchases goods and services reasonably required, under the Interlocal Cooperation Act, satisfies the requirement of the local government to seek competitive bids for the purchase of goods and their services.

* Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code, Interlocal Cooperation Contracts, authorizes cities to make purchases utilizing cooperative contracts such as the ones available through BuyBoard, HGAC and State of Texas term contracts.

* Purchase of vehicles will include an additional expenditure of $190,540 for equipment.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* During the FY 15 budget meetings and subsequent approval, staff provided a listing of all vehicles to be replaced.
* The FY 15 budget was adopted and fully funded all the replacement units recommended.
* Council action will allow for staff to order all the units currently budgeted utilizing cooperative contracts that have previously been bid thus expediting the purchasing process.
* Purchasing these vehicles earlier in the year will enable the City to receive the units and have the necessary equipment installed sooner than has been in the past.
