RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

•    Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a Local Project Advance Funding Agreement (LPAFA) with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the construction of a hike and bike trail under US 75 at Comegy’s Creek, for an amount not to exceed $300,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Hike and Bike Trails Master Plan shows a hike and bike trail crossing under US 75 at Comegy’s Creek.

The construction of this trail involves drilling piers to support the trail along the edge of the creek.

It will be easier to drill the piers during the period when the bridge is removed during the construction of US 75; therefore, the contractor for the US 75 project has the best opportunity to construct the trail.

This LPAFA is a commitment of the City of McKinney to pay TxDOT for the additional trail construction work.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The Resolution authorizes LPAFA for an amount not to exceed $300,000.

Funds for this LPAFA are available in the Capital Improvement Program (PK2257) funded by Parkland Dedication funds.
