RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of Resolution for acceptance and implementation of grant award.
ITEM SUMMARY:
· The UASI program focuses on enhancing regional security preparedness, including first aid training, in major metropolitan areas.
· Staff requests approval to accept and implement grant award of $108,000 in UASI grant funding to purchase nine (9) thermal imaging cameras to enhance search and rescue capabilities during low light or no light conditions.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· The T-4 Thermal Imaging Cameras will upgrade the capabilities of the search and rescue operations of the McKinney Fire Department. Outside of emergency situations, thermal imaging cameras are utilized a minimum of eight times per year in a training environment.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· The grant will provide $108,000 for the purchase of nine (9) thermal imaging cameras at $12,000 per unit.
· There is no match requirement.
