RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Oncor Electric Delivery (Oncor) to relocate the existing overhead electric lines along Virginia Street as necessary for the construction of the Town Center Phase 2 Infrastructure Improvements project, for an amount not to exceed $125,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The City will reconstruct Virginia Street from Tennessee Street to McDonald Street as part of the Town Center Phase 2 Infrastructure Improvements project.
* There are existing overhead utilities parallel to Virginia Street that conflict with the proposed improvements, as well as the context of the improvements in the downtown area.
* Limited space is available to relocate the existing lines and poles along Virginia within the ROW, and placement of utility poles and guy wires along storefronts and pedestrian areas is undesirable.
* At the City's request, Oncor has agreed to reroute the overhead electric lines and poles away from Virginia along the side streets.
* The cost to reroute the utilities away from Virginia is the responsibility of the City and will be paid to Oncor as a reimbursement.
* Oncor has submitted a proposal for relocation costs in the amount of $102,861.
* The utility relocation will be concurrent with the Town Center Phase 2 construction on Virginia Street.
* Once Oncor has relocated to new poles, City fiber optic and Time Warner Cable will also relocate to the new location.
