RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract with Grantham and Associates, Inc. (GAI) to provide consulting engineering services for the Couch Drive 12-inch Water Line Loop Project, for an amount not to exceed $65,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· In order to meet fire flow requirements for the existing and future facilities in the industrial park, a 12-inch water line needs to be constructed along the southern line of the industrial park, connecting the existing 12-inch main at the southern end of Couch Drive to the existing 12-inch main located on FM 546.
· The proposed 12-inch water line will complete a looped water system necessary to provide the capacity necessary to meet fire flow demands
· GAI was selected from the list of qualified professional engineering consulting firms the Council has approved for utility projects.
· GAI submitted a proposal in the amount of $53,695 to perform the consulting services for this project.
· Upon approval of the engineering services contract, GAI will prepare the design and provide administration services during construction.
· The design of the project will take approximately four weeks, easement acquisition will be completed concurrently with the design, thereby allowing construction to begin in July and project completion in early September.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
This Resolution authorizes a design contract with GAI, for an amount not to exceed $65,000.
