ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Ordinance will repeal Ordinance 2004-10-104 which previously established the reduced school speed limit zone and the crosswalk for Good Shepherd Montessori School.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· On September 4, 2014, City Staff was informed by the staff of the Good Shepherd Montessori School on Virginia Parkway that the school had closed its doors to the public and is no longer holding classes at the facility.
· In order to prevent non-compliance in nearby school zones, it is best to remove the reduced school speed limit zone and crosswalk on Virginia Parkway at Good Shepherd Montessori School.
· If a school reopens on the same site, Staff will evaluate the installation of a reduced school speed limit.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· The removal of the flashing beacons, reduced school speed limit signs and the crosswalk is included in the operating budget of the Water Utilities and Infrastructure Department.
