RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution amends expenditures in the 2018 - 2022 Capital Improvements Program by creating the following new Capital Improvement Program project:

o                     Virginia Elevated Storage Tank Maintenance Project, WA1805 located near the intersection of Custer Road and Virginia Parkway.

                     The project will be funded with previously programmed funds from the Water Storage Tank Maintenance - Umbrella Project (WA1629) in the amount of $1,000,000 for inspection, design, and construction.

                     An accompanying Resolution to enter into a consulting engineering services contract is also on this agenda for Council’s consideration.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

•    Funding has been allocated for FY2017-2018 for ongoing maintenance requirements of water storage tanks (WA1629).

                     The existing 1.5 Million Gallons (MG) Virginia Elevated Storage Tank serves the 920 pressure plane of the City’s water distribution system.

                     The existing water storage tank has been identified for paint inspection and repainting based on field observations by a third party contractor working for the Public Works Department.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     With approval of this item, $1,000,000 will remain in WA1805.

                     With approval of this item, $0 will remain in WA1629.
