RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of Resolution to apply for, accept and implement the grant award to fund the purchase of thermal imaging equipment for the proper equipping of Police Department personnel responding to high risk incidents.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The SHSP program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.
• The purchase of the equipment will protect and increase the survivability of both first responders and civilians
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• SHSP grant funds are sought by the City of McKinney to help prepare for, respond to and recover from, natural and man-made threats and hazards.
• The grant funds will be used to purchase thermal imaging equipment to support the proper equipment of Police Department personnel responding to high risk incidents.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The amount of the grant request is $5000 and there is no match required for this grant.
