ITEM SUMMARY:
· On December 7 and 8, 2011 the Community Grant Advisory Commission will conduct public hearings to consider requests for FY 12 Community Support Grant funding from 21 non-profit agencies.

· On January 12, 2012, the Community Grant Advisory Commission will deliberate and formulate a recommendation for funding that will be presented to City Council for final approval on January 17, 2012.

· On December 7, the following requests will be heard:
· Community Lifeline Center - Housing
· The Samaritan Inn
· The Turning Point
· Health Services of North Texas
· Holy Family School

· Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County
· Community Lifeline Center - Bridges
· Court Appointed Special Advocates of Collin County
· Children and Community Health Center of McKinney

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· On May 16, 2006. City Council approved Resolution 2006-05-086 establishing a policy for prioritizing funding for Community Support Grants for qualified entities serving the City of McKinney and its residents.
· On September 20, 2011, City Council approved $119,400 for FY 12 to fund Community Support Grants.
· Applications shall be analyzed for funding in accordance with the following priority of needs based on service impacts to the community, duplication of services from other agencies, other sources of agency funding, and presentation critique:
a. Disaster aid: relief to victims of disaster and to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies
b. Basic needs: food and clothing
c. Housing/Shelter: non-financial assistance
d. Health and medical treatment, including mental health
e. Housing: financial assistance
f. Transportation: the sole service being provide...
