ITEM SUMMARY:
• On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, the City Council will meet in special session to appoint members to the various boards & commissions of the city.
• Prior to the special meeting,
o individual Council Members may prepare and submit to the City Secretary his or her list of preferred nominees; and
o the City Council may meet in work session, without action, to discuss preferencing nominations, prior to the special meeting held to appointment members.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Each board consists of members appointed to two- or three-year terms with approximately half of all terms expiring in staggered years.
• The City Council may fill expired terms with incumbent or new members. Additionally, the Council may remove / replace members with unexpired terms at any time, with or without cause.
• 122 new candidates and incumbent members applied to serve on the various boards & commissions in 2024
o 83 individuals (68% of applicants) participated in interviews held between July 15-August 7 at the City Hall building
o 31 individuals (25%) did not participate in the interviews
o 8 individuals (7%) withdrew their application from consideration
