ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The YMCA is requesting $25,000.00 for the purchase and construction of new playground equipment at the McKinney Family YMCA.

                     Construction will replace a 25-year-old playground which has been closed since 2021 due to unsafe conditions.

                     Playground would be used for YMCA’s Child Watch program (Monday through Saturday 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and Monday through Thursday 5:30 to 7:30PM).

                     The playground would be open to the community when not being used by the YMCA program and is accessible from Stonebridge Ranch walking trails.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas has served the community for 138 years and currently operates 16 branches, 2 residential camps and over 200 program sites across 6 counties.

                     The facilities provide a safe environment that nurtures positive youth development, encourages healthy living, and inspires social responsibility.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     If approved by the Board, this item will be funded from MCDC’s Community Grants budget.

                     The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code.
