RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution to accept and implement the grant award to fund purchase of an ARFF Training Simulator.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* The UASI program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.
* The ARFF Training Simulator will allow rescue teams and firefighters to maximize their preparedness when encountering real-life aircraft accidents/incidents.
* Training will be conducted in coordination with existing Mutual/Automatic Aid partners to ensure a highly efficient, coordinated, rapid response to an induced or naturally occurring aircraft accident.
* The AARF Simulator Includes:
o Modified fuselage with cockpit, 2 rows of passenger seats, 2 doors, and 2 windows
o Aircraft wing (approx. dimensions: 15' (4.5m) L x 8' (2.4m) D x 8' (2.4m) H)
o Control panel stand
* The preferred site for the ARFF Training Simulator is the joint Collin College Public Safety Training Facility. The College has given a verbal commitment to providing infrastructure for the simulator.
