ITEM SUMMARY:
* Heritage Guild of Collin County is requesting a grant in the amount of $45,000 for repairs to be made to the Taylor Inn and campus-wide irrigation system.
* Currently the Taylor Inn is included in tours of Chestnut Square properties.
* Repairs needed to the Taylor Inn include a roof, exterior wood rot, and peeling paint as well as repairs to the interior.
* The improvements that will be funded by this grant will help ensure a safe environment for guests who visit and tour the historic structure.
* Additionally, $20,000 in grant funds would be allocated to repairs to the current irrigation system that will minimize damage to the wooden structures at Chestnut Square and extend to include the front yards of both the Dulaney House and Dulaney Cottage.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Heritage Guild was organized in 1973 and is home to Chestnut Square Historic Village.
* The mission of Chestnut Square is to celebrate community, preserve history and inspire the future.
* The Heritage Guild hosts a variety of programming and events throughout the year and hosts more than 50,000 visitors annually.
* The Taylor Inn is a proven tourist attraction and along with the other properties located at Chestnut Square will continue to highlight McKinney as a unique destination in the City.
