RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City has requested Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to include safety lighting as part of the State Highway 5 project from Spur 399 interchange and north of Stewart Road, including main lanes and frontage roads.
• This Resolution authorizes the execution of an Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for the construction, maintenance, and operation of safety lighting systems along State Highway 5 by TxDOT.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• TxDOT has retained HDR Engineering, Inc. for design of planned roadway improvements to State Highway 5 (SH 5) from Spur 399 to Powerhouse Street referenced as CSJ 0047-05-054.
• Safety lighting along State Highway 5 from Spur 399 Interchange to north of Stewart Road Grade Separation main lanes and frontage roads was not included as part of the design of planned roadway improvements unless requested by the City.
• In addition to the request, a safety lighting agreement with TxDOT is needed.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• TxDOT will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and operating the safety lighting systems along SH5 from Spur 399 interchange and north of Stewart Road, including main lanes and frontage roads.
