·      Approval of resolution
 
ITEM SUMMARY:  
·      Nine sports locations have been identified that are in need of upgraded sports lighting.
 
·      By retrofitting the remotely controlled lights, the Department will be able to monitor the lights from a cellular phone without the need to physically go to the site to turn off if needed.  
 
·      Engineering Associates has provided a design that allows the City to purchase remotely controlled sports lighting from Qualite totaling $54,000.  Each individual package is $6,000.  
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  
·      The City has contracted with Engineering Associates to provide an inventory and design for remotely controlled sports lighting within the City's sports complexes.
 
·      Ballfields are often scheduled as late as 11PM on Fridays and as early as 8AM on Saturdays. When this occurs the affected field lights will be on for several hours overnight in order for staff to be able to prepare the fields for play by 8AM. The lights in use will be limited to the affected fields.
 
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:  
·      Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code, Interlocal Cooperation Contracts, authorizes cities to make purchases utilizing BuyBoard contracts.  Qualite is included as a BuyBoard vendor.
 
·      Upon City Council approval Staff will make necessary budget transfers within existing appropriations.
 
·      The City has contracted with Engineering Associates in the amount of $8,500 to inventory the current sports lighting system and to complete a design for retrofitting to remotely controlled sports lighting.
