ITEM SUMMARY:
* Recognized as an industry leader, CommVault has redefined enterprise backup and recovery to help speed data recovery, reduce costs, and simplify operations; both in day-to-day operations and open records request facilitation. As the foundation for a modern approach to data protection, Simpana (CommVault's software) makes operational functions more manageable in performing hardware snapshots, indexing of data, de-duplication of information, replication, searching, and reporting, all within a manageable platform.
* CommVault's Simpana Enterprise Backup and Recovery Solution is available for purchase from Austin Ribbon & Computer Supplies, Inc. of Austin, Texas through the Department of Information Resources (DIR), Contract No. DIR-SDD-1625
* Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code, Interlocal Cooperation Contracts, authorizes cities to make purchases utilizing cooperative contracts such as the ones available through the Department of Information Resources (DIR)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The City of McKinney has used Tivoli Storage Manager and Tivoli Storage Manager Fastback for Exchange for many years. In those years, technology has changed dramatically and our data has grown at an exponential rate. Our current backup solution no longer meets the needs of the city, both in growth and open records management and retrieval. Currently, our back up data is not searchable, leading to an extremely complex and time consuming process when it comes to accommodating legal and regulatory mandates.
