ITEM SUMMARY:

McKinney Urban Transit District (MUTD) Board has expressed an interest in making the taxi voucher program more affordable for eligible residents of the McKinney Urban Transit District.

Staff asked Spare Labs to conduct a fiscal impact analysis to implement a flat $2 taxi fare vs. $3 taxi fare, with current costs.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

While ridership continues to grow and staff is cognizant of MUTD direction to only offer service that is fiscally sustainable, service options and pricing have not been evaluated since the inception of the transit program in 2017

A lower priced, fixed fare pilot program, along with the proposed transit study from Spare Labs, will provide staff and Board with information needed to adjust program design in a fiscally responsible manner.
