* Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This resolution establishes the hours for the reduced speed school zones at the following schools for the 2014 summer sessions:
* McKinney North High School
* Scott Johnson Middle School
* Press Elementary School
* The summer sessions at McKinney North School will begin July 14, 2014 and will end August 1, 2014. School will be in session 7:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on various days for each session.
* The summer session for Scott Johnson Middle School will begin June 11, 2014 and will end July 24, 2014. School will be in session 8:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
* The summer session for Press Elementary School will begin June 10, 2014 and will end June 26, 2014. School will be in session 8:00 a.m to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
* For arrival the reduced speed limit in the school zone will be effective beginning 45 minutes before the beginning of the school for the day and end 15 minutes after the beginning of school. For dismissal, the reduced speed limit in the school zones will be effective 15 minutes before dismissal of school for the day and will end 45 minutes after dismissal of school.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* In 2003, the City Council adopted an Ordinance that provides a process to establish reduced speed limits in school zones for summer sessions.
* The process involves the City Council adopting a Resolution that designates the schools and times of the summer sessions.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* The funding for the signage necessary to establish the reduced speed limits is in the Public Works Operating Budget.
