RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approve amended Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* The amendment would establish the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) as a separate department of the City of McKinney.
* The amendment would designate the director of public safety or, in the absence of the director of public safety, the city manager's designee to supervise city employees of the office of emergency management.
* The amendment would designate the director of public safety or, in the absence of the director pf public safety, the city manager's designee to serve as a secondary point of contact for emergency management on behalf of the city.
* The emergency management coordinator shall remain the primary point of contact for emergency management on behalf of the city.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The McKinney Office of Emergency Management was created and established in 2008 in accordance with Sections 19 and 34 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of McKinney, Texas, and Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code. (Ord. No. 2008-02-13, ? 3, 2-19-2008)
