RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of this Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance renames Amanda Way located between Dr. Kenneth Cooper Drive and Avondale Drive within the Craig Ranch Community to Shoreline Trail.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• It has come to Staff’s attention there are two roadways within McKinney that bear the name Amanda Way. One is located in Ridge Road Estates that was dedicated by plat in 2002. The other is located in the Craig Ranch Community and was dedicated by plat by Cooper Life at Craig Ranch in 2007.
• In order to eliminate confusion for Emergency Services, the United States Postal Services, and other services, it is recommended that one of these roadways be renamed.
• Amanda Way within Ridge Road Estates has homes addressed on it, but the Amanda Way within the Craig Ranch community has no buildings addressed on it.
• A roadway already dedicated by plat to the City of McKinney requires an Ordinance to change its name.
• Staff concurs with the recommendation of Cross Engineering who represented the Owner to rename Amanda Way, within the Craig Ranch community from Dr. Kenneth Cooper Drive to Avondale Drive, to Shoreline Trail.
• The name Shoreline Trail has been coordinated with Emergency Services, the United States Post Office, and GIS to confirm there are no conflicts with the new name.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funds for this item are available to install the necessary signage in the operating budget of the Engineering Department.
