RECOMMENDED PROS BOARD ACTION:                     

                     Recommend the City Council Allow the Naming of the All-Abilities Playground Based on City Policy and Corporate Donations Received by the Rotary Clubs of McKinney.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The City is currently working with the Rotary Clubs of McKinney on the design of Bonnie Wenk Phase 2.

                     Bonnie Wenk Phase 2 includes an All-Abilities Playground.

                     The Rotary Clubs are currently soliciting funds as needed for construction of the All-Abilities Playground as part of the park project.

                     Representatives from the Rotary Club requested the ability to offer naming rights for the playground to potential sponsors / donors.

                     Staff requests the PROS Board consider this item at their next regular meeting.

                     A copy of the Municipal Facility Naming Policy is attached:  2014-01-008(R).

                     A copy of the duties of the PROS Board’s role in naming parks is also attached. 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Policy allows the PROS Board to make a recommendation to the City Council re: naming of park facilities.

                     Criteria included in the attached naming policy shall be taken into consideration by the PROS Board before submitting names to the City Council.

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

                     Consider/Recommend the City Council allow the Rotary Clubs of McKinney the authority to offer Naming Rights for the All-Abilities Playground as part of their fundraising initiative.
