RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Ordinance.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Ordinance amends expenditures in the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Annual Budget and the 2016 - 2020 Capital Improvement Program Project by accepting a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the amount of $426,695 and appropriating those funds into a new project TR1603 - Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) for Safety Access to Schools in the Street Construction Fund.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* On May 6, 2014, City Council approved a request from City Staff to submit an application for the Safety and Access to Schools for the 2014 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Call for Projects through the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).
* The project involves the installation of in-street school crossing signs at designated school crossings on multi-lane streets to establish a better visibility for those crossings and the installation of driver feedback signage to promote compliance with the 20 mph reduced speed school zone at select locations. The final part of the project involves the construction of sidewalks at locations where gaps exist in existing school routes.
* If funding was awarded through this Call for Projects, City Council approved the Interim City Manager to execute all necessary documents. NCTCOG and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) informed City Staff that ...
