RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approve an additional payment of $2,250 to Artist for 2016 Public Art Mural
ITEM SUMMARY:
* City Council approved a contract with Misty Oliver-Foster for the 2016 Public Art Mural in the amount of $13,500.
* The professional services contract with Misty Oliver-Foster is attached.
* Contract states that "9. Additional Expenses. If the Artist incurs any reasonable additional costs or expenses that are caused as a result of amendments to the agreed upon Concept Design or other additional requirements or conditions requested by the City, the City will reimburse these upon production by the Artist of receipts or other evidence of the costs or expenses incurred."
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* $6,402 was paid to an outside contractor for the repair of loose/missing brick, mortar repointing and power washing of the mural surface.
* After repair was complete, City staff and the Artist decided that priming and painting the surface would also be necessary to insure the longevity of the mural.
* An outside contractor offered a quote of $3,201 to perform the work.
* The Artist offered a quote of $2,250 to perform the work.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* The previous contract amount with Misty Oliver-Foster was $13,500.
* The amended contract amount with Misty Oliver-Foster will be $15,750.
* The funds are available in the Council approved FY16 McKinney Arts Commission budget for Public Art.
