RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Discuss and provide direction related to key elements of the ONE McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* The purpose of this Joint Workshop with City Council and the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee is to discuss the status of the ONE McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update and to gain essential direction regarding the creation of the future land use plan and master thoroughfare plan.
* The presentation and discussion will follow the general format outlined below:
o Present a brief summary of key coordination and outreach to date (Attachment 1, titled: Summary of Community Input).
o Discuss overall policy direction related to the vision statement and guiding principles (Attachment 2, titled: Emerging Policy Direction).
o Discuss overall policy direction related to the Preferred Scenario (Attachments 3-4, titled: Preferred Scenario and Place Type Summary).
o Discuss relationship and synergies between the Preferred Scenario and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update.
o Present/Discuss recommended approach for creation of the future land use plan/diagram.
o Present/Discuss recommended approach for updating the Master Thoroughfare Plan and key transportation and mobility considerations (Attachment 5, titled: Preliminary MTP).
o Discuss next steps.
