RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. to provide professional engineering services for the preliminary design of the extension of Bloomdale Road from Hardin Boulevard to Community Avenue for an amount not to exceed $60,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* This project will result in a new alignment of Bloomdale Road from its current terminus at Community Avenue to a future intersection with Hardin Boulevard.
* The preliminary engineering phase will provide the City with the preferred alignment to cross Bloomdale Lake. That alignment will be based on hydraulic calculations to determine the cheapest option (basic bridge, con/span bridge, or culvert) that could convey the Bloomadale Lake water sufficiently. Once a preliminary design has been determined, another scope and fee will be assembled for the detailed design phase.
* This project will provide an alternate east-west route for local traffic currently using US 380. It is also anticipated to support continued economic development in the general vicinity.
* Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. submitted a response to RFQ 15-38 for Major Roadway Design. They were one of ten firms shortlisted by City Council on October 20, 2015. They were selected from this group based on their availabilit...
