RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for Design Services for the Modification and Update of the City's Engineering Design and Construction Documents for an amount not to exceed $375,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Kimley-Horn submitted a proposal for developing modifications, updating, and consolidating the City's engineering design manuals and associated documents in the amount of $320,000.
* The City currently has engineering design standards, ordinances, guidelines, manuals, and construction specifications and details that have been developed for the design and construction of public infrastructure and were last updated in 2010.
* A deliverable for the project will be the consolidation of all the design manuals into one document.
* Since 2010, there have been significant staff changes in both the Engineering and Public Works Departments as well as a complete redevelopment of the storm water ordinance.
* Taking an expansive approach to updating design standards and construction documents, including plans specification and details will ultimately result in consistent and synchronized requirements, thus minimizing conflicts between documents.
