ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The City of McKinney provides School Resource Officers (SRO) to the McKinney Independent School District (MISD).

                     The contract outlines the following cost sharing arrangement for MISD:

o                     Twelve (12) Officers at 50% of step 7 salaries/benefits

o                     One (1) Sergeant at 100% of step 4 salaries/benefits

o                     Thirteen (13) pursuit vehicles at 50% of depreciation

                     The contract allows for an automatic one-year renewal with updated salary/benefit rates.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The 2015-16 agreement provided for 50% of ten (10) SRO’s salaries/benefits and 100% of one (1) Sergeant’s salary/benefits without vehicle depreciation.

o                     A concurrent agenda item at this meeting amends the agreement for cost sharing of an additional SRO provided to MISD in the 2015-16 school year

                     The vehicle depreciation was calculated on a six year life expectancy of a $60,000 fully equipped police pursuit vehicle.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     MISD will pay the contract amount of $825,940 for the 2016-17 School Resource Officer Program.
