ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Allen Independent School District (AISD) to provide school crossing guards at AISD school campuses within the City of McKinney.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* In 2002, a Crossing Guard Program was developed to establish paid crossing guards at intersections determined by the City of McKinney for McKinney ISD school campuses. An Interlocal Agreement was developed between the City of McKinney and McKinney ISD to provide the terms and conditions.
* In 2013, Allen ISD opened Lindsey Elementary, located in the Village Park neighborhood, and requested implementation of the same City of McKinney Crossing Guard Program for its school campuses located in McKinney.
* In this cooperative agreement, Allen ISD will hire, equip, and train the crossing guards, while the City of McKinney will reimburse Allen ISD for associated costs for placement of the crossing guards at intersections designated by the McKinney Engineering Department.
* This Interlocal Agreement is a one year agreement renewed annually with no action necessary by either governing body for a total of five (5) years. The number and location of crossing guards may change annually as new school campuses or neighborhoods are added.
