RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION:
• Make recommendation to City Council for FY17 Arts Commission funding.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The McKinney Arts Commission is charged with evaluating non-profit Arts organizations funding requests and Arts-related program needs and making a funding recommendation for these programs and initiatives to City Council.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Arts Commission was created by Ordinance 2005-01-008 “to serve in advisory capacity to the City Council, to make recommendations concerning the resources and needs of the community on the subject of arts including strategies to encourage community involvement in the arts.”
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Arts Commission is requesting $200,000 in funding from City Council for FY17 for the promotion of the Arts within the City of McKinney.
