ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     North Collin County Habitat for Humanity is requesting $251,000 of $932,500 total project cost from MCDC for acquisition of six lots, lot preparation and surveys for the construction of affordable housing in McKinney; and exterior home repairs for 15 homes in McKinney.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     North Collin County Habitat for Humanity has been building homes for working, low-income families since its incorporation in 1992.

                     Through NCCHFH’s home repair program, A Brush with Kindness, low- income homeowners in need of exterior home repairs that are financially unaffordable receive needed renovation services.

                     To date, NCCHFH has completed 101 new homes and 123 home rehabs.

                     Between June 2015 and July 2016, NCCHFH hosted more than 5,000 volunteers contributing more than 23,000 volunteer hours in support of home construction and repair.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Balance on the project grant awarded to NCCHFH in 2015 (#15-06), as of July 31, 2016, is $94,994.

                     MCDC’s allocation for discretionary project grants for the current fiscal year is $1,171,896.

                     The balance remaining in the discretionary project grant allocation is $737,198 for the current year.

                     The request is eligible for MCDC Board consideration under Sections 501 to 505 of the Texas Local Government Code.
