RECOMMENDED PROS Board ACTION:
* Recommend a name to City Council for the 16-acre Neighborhood Park Site located at 1849 Reagan Drive.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* City Council has adopted a policy allowing for the naming of park and park facilities.
* Per the Park Code, one of the powers and duties of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory (PROS) Board is to make recommendations to the City Council on naming parks and park facilities.
* Names are generally recommended before or soon after a park or park facility has been constructed.
* Construction of a 16-acre park located at 1849 Reagan Drive was completed in early 2016.
* On July 14, 2016, the PROS Board selected to recommend to City Council, "Monarch Park", with alternate names "George Webb Park" and "Dr. Mack Moran Hill Park" from the online submittal for this park site.
* City Council considered the recommended name and tabled the item requesting the PROS Board resubmit their recommendation.
* The PROS Board recommendation is to allow for the park to be named after a person.
* The City Council requested only one name be resubmitted by the Board.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* On February 11, 2016, the Park Board voted to solicit the public for suggestions in naming the park.
* Parks and Recreation Department solicited name suggestions from the public via an online submittal form.
* The online submittal form was posted to the City's website on 3/29/2016.
* The online submittal form was promoted via social media, Facebook and Nextdoor. It was also featured on the City website's homepage as a scrolling banner.
