RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

•                     Acceptance of the award

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

  •                      The Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) has presented the “Certificate of Achievement for Planning Excellence” to the City of McKinney.
  •  
  • This award recognizes the professional planning standards demonstrated by our planning staff and the support exhibited by the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission.
  •  
  • In order to receive this award, a city must meet the APA Chapter goals for:
  • Increasing awareness of professional planning;
  • Enhancing neighborhood and citizen recognition of planning efforts;
  • Encouraging the funding of professional training for commissioners and staff; and
  • Aiding economic development and community image.
  •  
  • The City of McKinney has received this recognition fifteen (15) of the past sixteen (16) years.

•                     Each year about 10-15 communities receive this award.
