ITEM SUMMARY:

This Ordinance amends the FY 2016-2017 annual CIP budget and the 2017 - 2021 Capital Improvements Program, by accepting a $461,256 grant from Collin County Parks and Open Space Project Funding Assistance Program and appropriating the amount in the Parks Construction Fund to PK3222 Bonnie Wenk Park Phase II.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On June 21, 2016, the City Council authorized the application and acceptance, if awarded, of the Collin County Parks and Open Space Funding Assistance Program grant in the amount of $1,000,000.

On September 26, 2016, the Collin County Parks Foundation Advisory Board awarded the City of McKinney funding in a reduced amount of $461,256.

Collin County received 12 applications and awarded $2.6 million in funding assistance to various agencies.

Phase II of Bonnie Wenk Park construction documents are 100% complete.

Project bidding is pending final review by the Engineering Department.

Construction bidding is expected to occur within the upcoming 2-4 weeks with a bid award no later than January 2017.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The grant requires an equal match from the City, which has been satisfied with prior funding appropriated to the project.

The budget amendment will have no negative impact on the Parks Construction Fund Balance.
