RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Lockwood, Andrews & Newman, Inc. (LAN) to provide consulting engineering services for the design of the Redbud Pump Station 794 PP Transmission Water Line for an amount not to exceed $435,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Per the 2012-2013 Water Master Plan, the new Redbud Pump Station facility is needed to provide additional pumping and storage capacity for the growing City population and businesses.
* The pump station will have an initial capacity of approximately 20 MGD for the 794 Service Area. The pump station to be master planned for an ultimate total capacity of 60 MGD (50 MGD firm) for the 794 Service Area.
* LAN submitted a response to RFQ 15-36 for Utility Design. They were one of five firms shortlisted by City Council on October 20, 2015.
* LAN submitted a proposal for this project in the amount of $394,945.00. Their scope includes the following elements:
o Design of the Redbud Pump Station 794 PP Transmission Water Line, which consists of approximately 5,300 linear feet of new 54-inch diameter water main to connect to the Redbud Pump Station, extending eastward to McDonald Street (SH 5);
o Preparation of right-of-way and easement documents;
o Bid and construction phase assistance to the City.
* The preliminary opinion of probable construction cost is $3,935,800.
