RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract with Terracon Consultants, Inc. to provide materials testing services during the construction of the Virginia Parkway Lanes 5 & 6 construction project, for an amount not to exceed $200,000. 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Terracon submitted a response to RFQ 15-05 for Miscellaneous Geotechnical and Material Testing services. They were one of three firms shortlisted by City Council on March 3, 2015.

                     Terracon has successfully performed in a similar capacity on numerous City projects.

                     Terracon has submitted a proposal for their professional services in the amount of $143,987.50.   

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Resolution authorizes a contract with Terracon for an amount not to exceed $200,000. 

                     Funds will be available in the Capital Improvements Program in ST1219/WA9145/ST1231 contingent upon approval of the corresponding budget item. $92,000 will be available in project ST1219, $8,000 will be available in project WA9145, and $100,000 will be available in project ST1231.

                     With approval of this item and accompanying items for the Virginia Parkway project, $6,234.70 will remain in ST1219, $3,043.20 will remain in WA9145, and $5,293.40 will remain in ST1231.
