ITEM SUMMARY:   The applicant is requesting approval of a specific use permit (SUP) for Hank’s Texas Grill located at 1310 North Central Expressway. The purpose of the SUP is to allow the restaurant to operate as a Private Club. Presently, Hank’s Texas Grill operates under a Mixed Beverage Permit.

A Specific Use Permit for a Private Club allows a larger percentage (65%) of the sales receipts from the sale of alcohol than a typical Mixed Beverage Permit (which allows 50%). If the requested Specific Use Permit is approved and issued to the applicant, the applicant must then apply for and receive the necessary alcohol permits from the City of McKinney and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC).

On February 4, 2003, the City Council approved an SUP for a Private Club for Hank’s Restaurant. That SUP was relinquished when the owners switched to a Mixed Beverage Permit.
