RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution amends the 2017 - 2021 Capital Improvements Program by transferring $350,000 from the FY17 Traffic Signals  (TR1620) to Custer Road and Silverado Trail Traffic Signal (TR1702).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Development activity has completed two lanes of Silverado Trail to Custer Road from Alma Road. This is a “T” intersection with only the approach on the McKinney side. The City of Frisco does plan to have a collector street intersect Custer at this location in the future.

The new intersection of Custer Road and Silverado Trail has seen an increase in traffic volume since its opening and now meets the requirements for a traffic signal.

 •                     The City of Frisco and the City of McKinney have an informal agreement where the City of Frisco operates and maintains the traffic signals along Custer Road from north of SH 121 through Eldorado Parkway.

The signal at Custer Road and Silverado Trail will be built to the City of Frisco standards.

Because the new traffic signal will be operated and maintained by the City of Frisco, we are creating a separate project to track expenditures, so the project is not capitalized as a McKinney asset after construction is completed.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The Amendment of the FY 2017 - 2021 Capital Improvements Program will deduct existing funding for the project TR1620 in the amount of $350,000 and create a new project TR1702 in the amount of $350,000.
