RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution amends expenditures in the 2017-2021 Capital Improvements Program by creating the following new Capital Improvements Program projects:
o Pearson Avenue and Related Drainage Improvements (Waddill Street to Kentucky Street), CO1703
o McKinney FY 17 Substandard Utility Replacement and Street Rehabilitation Umbrella Projects North of Virginia, CO1706
• CO1703 will be funded with previously programmed funds from the Street Reconstruction Umbrella (ST1622) in the amount of $750,000, the Substandard Wastewater Mains (WW4350) in the amount of $870,000, and the Creek, Lake, and Dam Improvements Umbrella (DR4318) in the amount of $1,315,000.
• CO1706 will be funded with previously programmed funds from the Street Reconstruction Umbrella (ST1622) in the amount of $840,000, the Substandard Water Mains (WA4336) in the amount of $2,500,000, and the Substandard Wastewater Mains (WW4350) in the amount of $2,510,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Funding has been allocated for FY 16-17 for rehabilitation of various streets (ST1622), replacement or rehabilitation of various substandard water utilities (WA4336), replacement or rehabilitation of various substandard wastewater utilities (WW4350), and storm water improvements (DR4318).
• Staff has allocated use of these funds for design and construction of various projects throughout the City which have been identified as needing street rehabilitation, having substandard water mains, having substandard wastewater mains, and/or in need of storm water improvements based on previous flood studies.
• In order to provide the most efficient design and construction, the proposed projects have been grouped based on geographical location/vicinity within the City as deemed appropriate.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funding for design and construction of the new Capital Improvements Program projects (from previously programmed funds) includes:
o Pearson Avenue and Related Drainage Improvements (Waddill Street to Kentucky Street), CO1703 in the amount of $2,935,000
o McKinney FY 17 Substandard Utility Replacement and Street Rehabilitation Umbrella Projects North of Virginia, CO1706 in the amount of $5,850,000
• With approval of this item:
o $486,790.00 will remain in the Creek, Lake, and Dam Improvements Umbrella (DR4318)
o $1,793,288.14 will remain in the Street Reconstruction Umbrella (ST1622)
o $645,000.00 will remain in the Substandard Water Mains (WA4336)
o $1,821,475.00 will remain in the Substandard Wastewater Mains (WW4350)
