RECOMMENDED ACTION:                     

                     Approve recommendation to the City Council.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Wilson Creek Hike and Bike trail project extends the trail from the Wilson Creek Softball Complex to Eldorado Parkway which will eventually lead to the Heard Museum.

 

                     A total of 6 bids were submitted and accepted.

 

                     North Rock Construction submitted the lowest bid for the construction of the project for an amount of $676,692.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     David C. Baldwin, Inc. along with Staff recommend awarding the bid to North Rock Construction for the construction of the Wilson Creek Hike and Bike Trail project.

 

                     If approved, the contract allows for construction to begin in March 2017 with a July 2017 deadline for completion.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Wilson Creek Hike and Bike Trail project (PK4326) is a FY16-17 Capital Improvements Project funded by General Obligation Funds and Collin County grants in an amount of $886,700.

 

                     Staff will be requesting additional construction funds in an amount of $100,000 to City Council in a concurrent CIP Amendment to be appropriated from PK1213 Hike and Bike Trail Construction.

COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION:

 

                     On February 21, 2017, a similar agenda item will be presented to the City Council for their approval.

 

                     On February 21, 2017, in a concurrent CIP Amendment, staff will be requesting approval from City Council for additional construction funds to be appropriated from PK1213 Hike and Bike Trail Construction.
