RECOMMENDED ACTION:                     

                     Approve recommendation to the City Council.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Comegy’s Creek Hike and Bike trail project is a trail connection along the Wilson Creek corridor that provides a safe route from Malvern Elementary to the McKinney Community Center and linking the trail to the Wilson Creek trail at Towne Lake.

                     A total of 5 bids were submitted and accepted.

 

                     North Rock Construction submitted the lowest bid for the construction of the project for an amount of $948,233.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     David C. Baldwin, Inc. along with Staff, recommends awarding the bid to North Rock Construction for the construction of the Comegy’s Creek Hike and Bike Trail project.

 

                     If approved, the contract allows for construction to begin in March 2017 with a September 2017 deadline for completion.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Comegy’s Creek Hike and Bike Trail project (PK4326) is a FY16-17 Capital Improvements Project funded by General Obligation Funds and a Collin County grant in an amount of $1,043,000.

 

 

                     Staff will be requesting additional construction funds in an amount of $89,000 to City Council in a concurrent CIP Amendment to be appropriated from PK1213 Hike and Bike Trail Construction.

 

                     Below is a breakdown of project expenditures:

COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION:

 

                     On February 21, 2017, a similar agenda item will be presented to the City Council for their approval.

 

                     On February 21, 2017, in a concurrent CIP Amendment, staff will be requesting approval from City Council for additional construction funds to be appropriated from PK1213 Hike and Bike Trail Construction.
