RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance renames Poplar Drive within Robinson Ridge to Pistache Drive.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• There are two streets within McKinney with the name Poplar Drive. One is within the Robinson Ridge subdivision and the other is within the Silver Oaks Estates subdivision.
• Emergency Services have expressed concern about the potential confusion associated with two separate roadways bearing the same name. They have requested one roadway be renamed.
• Both roadways have been platted with their subdivision. A platted roadway requires an Ordinance to change its name.
• Poplar Drive within the Silver Oaks Estates subdivision has homes addressed on it, but the Poplar Drive within Robinson Ridge does not. Because of this, Staff recommends changing the name of the street within Robinson Ridge.
• Since Poplar Drive within the Robinson Ridge subdivision has extended into the Heatherwood subdivision, Staff worked with the developer of Heatherwood to determine a new name for the roadway. Staff concurs with the recommendation to rename Poplar Drive, east of Southern Ridge Drive to Pistache Drive.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funds for this item are available in the operating budget of the Engineering Department.
