ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The McKinney Urban Transit District and the City of McKinney wish to enter into an Interlocal Agreement providing for the management of transit funding for the McKinney Urbanized Area (MUZA) and outlining the rights and responsibilities of each party.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The McKinney Urban Transit District was created pursuant to Chapter 458 of the Texas Transportation Code as a political subdivision of the State of Texas and the City of McKinney is a home rule municipal corporation

                     The City of McKinney and the McKinney Urban Transit District both have statutory authority to enter into an Interlocal Agreement outlining the rights and responsibilities of each party

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     For FY 17, the City of McKinney will receive approximately $312,000 from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the provision of transit services to the McKinney Urban Transit District (MUTD)

                     Members of the MUTD may also contribute funds for the provision of transit services in the MUTD.

                      TxDOT and MUTD member funds may be used to as match to “drawdown” an amount of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funds, up to the total amount of the allocation for the MUZA.

                     The anticipated cost of administration for the transit funding will be based on levels and types of services provided.
