RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The City Council Chambers Audio / Visual Systems Upgrade Project requires funding for construction services.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Due to aging infrastructure and antiquated A/V and Broadcasting systems, the City Council needs to upgrade all A/V Systems.

                     On February 21, 2016, a request for qualifications (RFQ) was advertised for professional consulting services firms to perform typical and complete audio, visual and broadcasting design services for all City facilities, and initially for the renovation and upgrade of all such systems in the City Hall Council Chambers.

                     On April 19, 2016, a professional services contract was authorized with the selected consultant team, Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams, Inc. (WJHW), to provide audio visual design services for the renovation of the A/V systems in the City Council Chambers for an amount not to exceed $65,000.

                     On August 16, 2016, a professional services contract was authorized with the selected project management team, Aguirre Roden, Inc. to provide project management services in an amount not to exceed $27,000.

                     On September 28, 2016, a professional services contract was authorized with the selected architectural team, Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC. to provide architectural and electrical engineering services to accommodate the new A/V enhancements to the existing McKinney Council Chambers for an amount not to exceed $20,000.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The budget for the project shall be amended by appropriating $800,000 from the PEG (public, educational and government) Channel Fund balance for the project’s construction services.

                     With approval of this budget amendment, the total construction budget for construction services for the A/V project upgrade (IT1601) will be $800,000.
