RECOMMENDED COMMISSION ACTION:
* Approve request under FY 2016-2017 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Economic Development for City Council consideration and approval.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* Collin County Committee on Aging is requesting funding to assist with roof repair for the building located at 600 N. Tennessee Street.
* The Commission will make the funding recommendation to City Council for approval. Funding requests are reviewed and considered in accordance with the Strategic Plan goals expressed in the Housing and Community Development Consolidated Plan; federal and statutory and program requirements; service impacts to the community; past performance, as applicable; duplication of exact services from other agencies; other sources of agency funding and presentation critique, as applicable.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded the City of McKinney its CDBG funding allocation for FY 2016-2017 (October 1, 2016 - September 30, 2017) in the amount of $692,482. Program funding includes grant administration, public services, housing services, housing rehabilitation and eligible CDBG economic development activities. Funding was approved by City Council on August 1, 2016 (Agenda item 16-755). All agency applicants must submit an application for consideration and approval. This is the first application for use of funding under category of Public Facilities during the reporting period.
* The funding request will be under review for 30-day public comment period, March 26 - April 27 before submittal to City Council and HUD for approval to update the Annual Action Plan.
