RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract and all necessary change orders with McMahon Contracting, L.P. for the construction of Hardin Boulevard Lanes 5 & 6 and McKinney Ranch Parkway Improvements for a total contract amount not to exceed $3,700,000.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     CH2M Hill Engineers, Inc. prepared the construction plans for this project.

                     Five bids were received for this project on March 2, 2017. The following is a summary of the bids:

                     McMahon Contracting, L.P. submitted the low bid in the amount of $3,368,249.16.

                     McMahon Contracting, L.P. submitted references and qualifications that were verified in accordance with the bid specifications.

                     The contract documents require that this project be completed within 240 calendar days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed, which is expected April 3, 2017. Construction is expected to be complete in November 2017.

                     No right-of-way is needed along Hardin.  Right-of-way acquisition along McKinney Ranch is ongoing and anticipated to be complete by April 3, 2017.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract and all necessary change orders with McMahon Contracting, L.P. for an amount not to exceed $3,700,000.

                     Of the $3,700,000, $1,900,000 will be billed to ST3211 and $1,800,000 will be billed to ST1614.

                     Funds are available in the Capital Improvements Program in ST3211/ST1614.

                     With approval of this item, $91,091.95 will remain in ST3211 and $97,387.71 will remain in ST1614.
