RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution establishes the hours for the reduced speed school zones at the following schools for the 2017 summer school sessions:
? McKinney North High School
? Scott Johnson Middle School
? Webb Elementary School
* The summer sessions at McKinney North High School will begin July 11, 2017, and will end July 27, 2017. School will be in session 7:30 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday on various days for each session.
* The summer session at Scott Johnson Middle School will begin June 7, 2017, and will end June 29, 2017. School will be in session 8:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Thursday.
* The summer session at Webb Elementary School will begin June 7, 2017, and will end June 30, 2017. School will be in session 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.
* For arrival, the reduced speed school zone will be effective beginning 45 minutes before the beginning of the summer session for the day and end 15 minutes after the beginning of school. For dismissal, the reduced speed school zone will be effective 15 minutes before the dismissal of the summer session for the day and will end 45 minutes after dismissal of school. These summer school times are consistent with the times used during the school year.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* In 2003, the City Council adopted an Ordinance that provided a process to establish a reduced speed school zone for summer school sessions.
* The process involves the City Council adopting a Resolution that designates the school and times of the summer school sessions.
